The Wiki is no more…

December 7th, 2008

We had a spam problem and the wiki database had grown to 25+ GIGS and the hosting provider was not so happy.  We had less than 1 MEG of our data.

I saved the content I needed and deleted the database.  I have replaced the wiki with something that can not be spammed to death.  The new Panther XL USB Pages are a static page with information about the new Version 3 Panther XL USB and less information about out dated products.

Much of the wiki info was very outdated, it needed a fresh start !

Store Pricing Errors - FIXED

October 22nd, 2008

In the “Oh Crap” section for today, I somehow screwed up the pricing of the Pre-modded Panther XL Version 3 to be +$25 too much ! ARRRGGG !

The correct price for premodded PXL’s has been edited and the store will now correct correct amount. Luckily I had to make only one refund of $25 before I noticed the store was charging too much !

Panther XL USB Store Now Open !

October 15th, 2008

My system of “email Steveo to order” has been a thorn in the side of many users for many years.  I have finally built a Panther XL Store where the user can get prices, see options such as choice of mouse, Version of Panther XL USB and order Panther XL controllers.  Users can pay via Paypal or Google Checkout using a credit card or funds already in accounts.

It is always best to pay for your mod as soon as your sure you want one to reserve your parts, get space in line and get controller back quickly !  As soon as a controller or mod is paid for, the parts are set aside and reserved for that customer.  Even if other PXL’s get in before yours, if you paid first, your served first.  In my experience this is only fair way to order what mods get done in what order.

Two New Panther XL Videos

October 14th, 2008

I have posted two new Panther XL Videos covering aspects of the PXL Ver3.  The first video covers how to calibrate a ver3 Panther XL.  That is the unit reconfigs to output as a hardware keyboard that works in ANY game !
Hopefully the videos can be informative and entertaining !

XIM2 For Xbox 360 + Panther XL.

August 11th, 2008

Ok, this is confusing so bear with me….. The XIM2 system uses a modded Xbox 360 wired Controller with a custom made electronics inside. You purchase the XIM2 as a kit or as a controller premodded (soon). You plug the controller into the Xbox360, another cable plugs into a Windows PC running the XIM Software. Devices plugged into the PC such as a keyboard and mouse or a Panther XL or other HID device will them output and control the Xbox 360 ! So it will be possible for the PXL in joystick mode (read ver1, ver2 or ver3) to be used as a control method of the XB360. It might even work to use a Stock PXL in this configuration to control the Xbox 360 !

Now the entire time the unit is used a PC will have to be in between the PXL and the XBOX 360, not just for setup but the entire time ! With that said, maybe a netbook like a eeePC running windows will work great ?

I am planning to get my hands on this system ASAP and test it out ! More to come !

The Next USB Panther XL:

June 18th, 2008

Well it looks like after much work by the engineer Dave B, the ver3 USB Panther XL is soon to be upon us ! I will have the first unit soon and the first batch of 100 will be in the USA within a few weeks !

The unit will be programmable with a user interface from the host OS (Win32) and if all works as planned will allow the unit to be programmed for Keystroke Output AND normal PXL USB game controller output.

So it will work as a normal USB PXL joystick with a modded trackball until the user uses the little app shown below to make it into a keystick. The user does not have to use the programmer to do normal functions, only if the user wants the PXL to output as a keyboard for games with no joystick support. This means that a program like RBJoy or Xpadder would not need to be used to play games with no joystick support.

Prices for the unit are going to rise due to the cost of the USB boards having gone up more because of the weak dollar than because of the added features. This unit costs less to make than the ver2 USB board with parts for the USB board being stoked for last five+ years. Shipping has also gone up, almost doubled since I last changed rates.

I had dropped prices from $125 to $100 from the “Mod the PXL you send me” package a few years ago and I’m looking to go back to the $125 price to cover all the increases. This is the same price I started selling them all all those years ago with the ver1, hell I think the first trackball only mods started at $125…hehe

Gas was $1.49 a gallon and PXL’s were $125 back in the day.
